Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
We understand that plans can change. However, guided trips require ECMG to make significant financial and operational commitments well in advance, including scheduling professional guides, reserving accommodations, transportation, permits, and other trip-related services.
Cancellation requests must be made in writing and are effective on the date they are received by ECMG.
Refunds are based on the total trip cost and are subject to the following schedule:
- More than 90 days prior to the trip: Refund of all payments except the 10% deposit.
- 60–89 days prior to the trip: 50% refund of the total trip cost.
- 30–59 days prior to the trip: No refund. However, ECMG will make reasonable efforts to help fill the canceled space. If the space is successfully filled by another qualified guest, ECMG may, at its discretion, provide a refund or credit based on the amount recovered from the replacement booking.
- Less than 30 days prior to the trip: No refund will be issued.
Because ECMG must make significant financial and operational commitments well in advance of a trip, we generally cannot make exceptions to this cancellation policy.
We strongly recommend that all guests purchase appropriate travel insurance, including trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, to protect their financial investment.

Guide Tipping
It is not a requirement to offer your guide a gratuity, but it is greatly appreciated. Tipping your guide should be similar to eating at a nice restaurant and depends on the level of service you feel you’ve received. We recommend tipping at 15-20% of the trip cost.
Meeting Location
You will receive a specific meeting time and place upon registering for your trip. For winter skiing, we often meet in La Grande or Union at 7:30 am at a local cafe or diner.
Food
For most of our day outings and some overnights, you are required to supply your own food. We can assist you with recommendations and meal planning: meal plan gear list.
Equipment
Please refer to the equipment list provided for the specific trip you are registering for: gear lists.
Dogs
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at our overnight basecamp. We have an 8-mile snowmobile ride and melt snow for water. You may see our Golden Retrievers, Luna and Neve, but they have experience riding snowmobiles and are staff. Thanks for your understanding.
